Board Member Spotlight: Cameron Brister
“When you do something you love, you never work a day in your life.” For Small business owner, Cameron, this quote could not be more true. Founder of SquarePlanIT, a local IT company dedicated to fostering business growth, Cameron is a proud member of the West Monroe Chamber of Commerce and serves on the board. As an aviation lover and private pilot, he took his alma mater’s mantra of Take Flight literally, soaring through the sky when he’s not helping businesses thrive.
When he attended college at the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 2007, his interest in technology flourished. His friend who ran the IT department for Delta Community College at the time offered him an internship, an experience which ignited his passion for IT. Driven by a desire to bridge the gap between large corporations with advanced technological capabilities and small businesses, Cameron founded SquarePlanIT as a side hustle in 2009. A people person at heart, Cameron thrives on community involvement, viewing it as “contributing a small effort to a larger cause.” He embarked on a mission to democratize technology for small businesses to ensure access to enterprise-level technology solutions. What began as a hobby soon evolved into a thriving business that will be 15-years-old at the end of July.
SquarePlanIT initially focused on web design and custom app development, leveraging Cameron's background in computer science to provide tailored solutions for clients. Over the years, the company transitioned to offering fully managed IT services, serving as an outsourced IT department for businesses of all sizes. From troubleshooting technical issues to implementing cybersecurity measures, SquarePlanIT ensures that its clients are equipped with the tools and support needed to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape.
At the core of SquarePlanIT's mission is a commitment to helping people harness the power of technology to achieve their business goals. Cameron's passion for community involvement extends beyond his business endeavors, as evidenced by his active role in organizations like the West Monroe Chamber of Commerce and Keep West Monroe Beautiful and Ouachita Green. Through these initiatives, Cameron not only enriches the community but also cultivates valuable relationships that drive business growth.
For Cameron and SquarePlanIT, the journey is not just about business success but also about making a difference in the lives of others. As they continue to champion the transformative power of technology, they embody the spirit of entrepreneurship and community stewardship, leaving a lasting legacy in their wake.
