Board Member Spotlight: Lyla Corkern, Finding Solace

Lyla Corkern

From an 8-year-old with a passion for helping others to a successful businesswoman, Lyla Corkern pursued her dream of helping others with Finding Solace—a thriving counseling center established in 2014. More than a mere business venture, Finding Solace embodies the vision of a sanctuary where individuals from any background can find healing and support. With a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from ULM, Corkern embarked on her journey driven by a deep empathy for people's stories and a commitment to positive community impact.

Finding Solace distinguishes itself not just through its comprehensive mental health services but also through its culture of empathy, authenticity, and accountability. Every interaction at the center is marked by a dedication to ensuring clients feel heard, supported, and respected. The goal is to meet your needs: whether that’s through individual therapy, family counseling, or specialized programs like TEND (Traumatic Experiences and Natural Disasters) therapy, Finding Solace aims to enhance mental health outcomes and promote overall well-being.

For Lyla, success transcends business growth; it hinges on upholding integrity and compassion in all aspects of Finding Solace's operations. She emphasizes gratitude as a transformative mental health practice, challenging others with the question: "If you walked into tomorrow with everything you were grateful for today, what would you have?"

As the center continues to expand, Corkern envisions a future where Finding Solace reaches even more individuals, driven by her goal to multiply services fivefold within the next five years. Whether facing a crisis or seeking guidance, Finding Solace offers genuine support—from real people, for real problems—reflecting the empathy and dedication that define Lyla Corkern's legacy.
