Are you an environmental activist looking for a way to make a lasting impact in your community?
As a registered nonprofit organization, Ouachita Green is the umbrella organization for Keep Monroe Beautiful and Keep West Monroe Beautiful, which focuses on recycling, beautification efforts, and litter abatement. Their mission is litter abatement, to preserve natural beauty, protect the environment, prevent blight, promote environmental education, and to plan and participate in community enhancement projects that make Ouachita Parish a cleaner and greener community to live in.
As one of the most active affiliates of Keep Louisiana Beautiful in the state, the goal is clear for the team at Ouachita Green: create a cleaner, more vibrant community that residents are proud to call home. From organizing community cleanups to leading recycling initiatives, Ouachita Green is at the forefront of promoting environmental sustainability in the West Monroe area. By partnering with local businesses, community organizations, and volunteers, Ouachita Green facilitates events like the recycling drive hosted at the IKE, where this year more than 700 cars came through to responsibly dispose of items ranging from old tires to household hazardous waste.
However, sustaining these efforts requires more than just goodwill. With household hazardous waste disposal alone costing $60,000, Ouachita Green relies on the generous support of community partners, donors, and volunteers to fund their initiatives. Whether through financial contributions or volunteering for cleanup events, community members can play a vital role in supporting this powerful organization’s mission.
There are numerous opportunities to make a difference. Every week, there is at least one community event where you can collaborate to make your area beautiful.
